It is known since ancient times as a sovereign remedy to reach perpetual youth and longevity. It attracts attention as a functional food that contains a lot of vitamin A and iron. The picking season is from late June to middle July and it is for eating. It is also used to prepare processed products such as jams, and syrup.

The picking season is from late July for early variety and until middle September for late variety.
